One Piece Chapter 1170 Review: Opposite
Honestly, One Piece Chapter 1170 was way better than I expected. After weeks of buildup, we finally got some real payoff with Loki, and I'm genuinely excited about where this is heading.
The fight between Loki and Ragnir was intense, even if it felt a bit rushed at times. What really got me hyped was the reveal about the legendary Devil Fruit - the fact that NO ONE has eaten it because Ragnir's been guarding it this whole time is wild. It makes you wonder just how powerful this fruit actually is and why it needed protecting for so long.
Gaban's explanation about fighting the immortals was probably my favorite part of the chapter. The Conqueror's Haki coating mechanic makes total sense and adds another layer to the power system. Plus, learning that the Holy Knights tried multiple times to abduct Shanks only to get beaten down by Roger's crew each time? That's the kind of lore drop that reminds you why we love this series. It also makes the Holy Knights feel less invincible, which is good for the story's stakes.
The moment where Ragnir transforms into a "cutie squirrel" was unexpectedly wholesome. After all that fighting, having him accept Loki and actually open the chest for him felt earned. Though I won't lie, Oda keeping Loki's transformed form in silhouette is both frustrating and exciting - classic move to keep us guessing.
The final battle against Harald delivered exactly what it needed to. Loki and Ragnir teaming up, that Conqueror's Haki-coated lightning attack, and literally shattering Harald to pieces - it was satisfying as hell. My only complaint is that we still don't get a clear look at Loki's full form, but I guess that's intentional to build more hype.
And thank god there's no break next week. After a chapter like this, waiting two weeks would've been torture.
Overall, solid 8/10. Great action, important lore reveals, and actual plot progression. If you've been on the fence about the Elbaf arc, this chapter might just pull you back in.
